Based on the available well, seismic, field and general geological information on the region, understanding of the geological setting of the region and the main promising objects is formed.
The results are processed well data, a framework of seismic data, structural constructions (maps, fault models) for identified promising formations, conceptual and sedimentation models of the formations.
At the final stage, all the results are summarized to form the basis of a set of risk maps (Common Risk Segment – CRS) for all parameters affecting the prospects to discover commercial reserves. For each identified object, the following maps are generated:
- reservoir components (presence, quality)
- containment components (seal effectiveness etc.)
- closure components (map reliability, presence)
- timing / migration components
Further, taking into account the specifics of a territory under study and the priorities of the customer, a methodology for evaluating the total risk and a methodology for constructing final risk maps can be developed.
In the process of work, a set of identified objects is formed, an assessment of resources by region, identified objects and risk evaluation by zones and objects can be performed using international standards and on the basis of Common Risk Segment maps.
Additionally, recommendations on the program of further exploration activities can be prepared.
Experience: 2010 to date:
- Western Siberia – 50,000 km of seismic and 450 wells,
- Eastern Siberia – 70,000 km of seismic and 700 wells,
- Shelf of West Africa – 10,000 km and 5 wells.
